Getting rid of love handles are one of the toughest and hardest things to do when it comes to dropping pounds of belly fat from around your waistline. They are the most stubborn of all body parts and extremely hard to make go away. But don’t worry because you are not alone in this regard. There are millions of men and women all over the world who have this same problem as well. Even people who have lost a lot of weight and are somewhat skinny will still have love handles. It’s like no matter what they do they just can’t get rid of them things.
But don’t worry because this is what this article is all about….how to get rid of love handles.
One of the biggest things I have found when it relates to getting rid of love handles is that you need to pay close attention to obviously your diet and training program…but what I mean is that you need to really start doing things that will propel your results forward quickly and stop worrying about the little nitty gritty details. These will not propel your results forward as fast as you think and would expect. This is based on the paretto’s principle or the 80/20. What this means is that 80% of your results and sometimes 90% of your results will come from only 10-20% of what you do. Therefore, all of the other garbage that you could be doing or worrying about in order to lose your love handles won’t make a difference.
So if you want to understand how to get rid of love handles, understand that it means a lot to do the BIG things first then worry about the little stuff. Now what do I mean when I say worry about the BIG things first? Well what I’m talking about is do big exercises that will burn a ton of calories at once and for the long haul after you have completed your workout. These exercises include any type using the multiple joints and large loads such as squats, dead lifts, pull-ups, rows, overhead presses and all of their constituents. There is no need to worry about doing little isolation exercises because they won’t give you the biggest bang for your buck.
Another example of good exercises that will give you the biggest bang for your buck are any type of sprint interval training. The reason is because they are primarily working your lower body but also they create a huge systemic caloric burn and increase your metabolic rate by 10x during AND after you have finished. In fact, some studies have shown that you can burn extra calories from a workout 36-48 hours AFTER you had completed your workout….how crazy is that right? So if you decide to do some type of sprint intervals, feel free to do them on a treadmill or outside. You can do hill sprints, regular sprints, 400 meter sprints, 100 meter sprints etc…it really doesn’t matter as long as you push yourself and give it all you got.
Now the other side of the coin that you need to focus on is your diet of course. Without your diet then you’re just dead in the water. When it comes to results and losing love handles, diet makes up about 80% of your results…so as you can see, that paretto’s principle means a lot and is seen everywhere. But it’s true, if you were to eat like crap and workout, you wouldn’t get anywhere. But if you ate healthy and worked out, you would see phenomenal results…So that’s why you need to eat healthy. There’s a good quote I like to use with clients when talking about this type of stuff. I say you can eat like crap and workout 5 hours a day or eat good and workout 30 minutes a day…Which one would you choose?
Another thing you should be doing with your diet is getting in enough protein. The more protein you take in the better, especially if it’s lean. The reason I say this is because protein is the most satisfying out of the 3 macronutrients. It keeps you full for longer periods of time and helps to keep your cravings at a minimal amount. Also protein has been found to have a high thermic effect on your body so you actually need to burn a lot more calories just to break down and digest protein as compared to carbohydrates or fat…I thought this was pretty cool when I found out.
All in all, getting rid of love handles does not have to be a hard thing. You just need to have a simple and effective diet and training plan in order to get the job done. Start following the above points now and I guarantee you’ll start seeing results.
